The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) have engaged with residents and opened a platform for public aspirations through the ‘Safari Subuh MENYA-LA’ (Direct Engagement) programme at the Miftahul Jannah Mosque, Sukajaya, Palembang. Through congregational prayers and community meetings, the activity aims to strengthen communication and encourage citizens to play an active role in maintaining local security, on Tuesday (29/9).

The Director of Community Development of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Hari Purnomo, led the activity alongside personnel from the Community Development Directorate, Sukarame Police Sector, and the Sukajaya Village Community Police Officer (Bhabinkamtibmas). Their presence was warmly received by the management and congregants of the Miftahul Jannah Mosque.

In his address, Hari Purnomo explained that ‘Safari Subuh MENYA-LA’ is a flagship programme of the South Sumatra Regional Police designed to meet face-to-face with the public and directly listen to suggestions, input, and criticism regarding policing duties. This communication is a vital part of building services that are increasingly aligned with the needs of the citizens.

The activity was accompanied by dawn patrols as an effort to anticipate disturbances to public order and security during vulnerable hours. Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant about the situation around their homes and to maintain communication with their local Bhabinkamtibmas to ensure potential security threats are identified early.

The protection of the younger generation was also a key focus. Hari Purnomo urged parents to work together in supervising their children’s activities and social circles to prevent involvement in street brawls and to keep them away from the influence of drugs. The community was also reminded to be wary of the influences of intolerance, radicalism, and terrorism.

In facing the dry season, residents were asked to protect the environment by avoiding land clearing using fire or indiscriminate waste burning, which could trigger forest and land fires. Hari Purnomo also invited the congregation to perform the Istiska prayer to pray for rain.

Furthermore, residents were reminded to immediately report any information regarding disturbances to public order, either through their local Bhabinkamtibmas or the 110 police service. Public concern and information are expected to assist the police in preventing crime and maintaining environmental comfort.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Nandang Mumin Wijaya, emphasised the importance of open communication between the police and the community in building collective security.

“Through Safari Subuh MENYA-LA, we want the community to feel close to us and find it easy to convey issues to the police. The concern of residents, parental supervision, and early information serve as a collective strength to keep the environment safe and comfortable,” said Kombes Pol. Nandang in his statement on Tuesday (29/9/2026).

With the spirit of ‘Nyago Bumi Sriwijaya 24/7’, the Safari Subuh MENYA-LA programme serves as a medium for the South Sumatra Regional Police to strengthen ties with the community through worship, communication, and shared care.

This closeness is expected to foster public trust in providing feedback, protecting the younger generation, and safeguarding the environment from security threats and forest fire risks, ensuring a sense of safety in daily life.
