South Sumatra Regional Police Detail Performance and Support for Government Programmes
The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) have reaffirmed the tangible contribution of the police institution in supporting the national development agenda through the strengthening of food security, public services, community welfare, and the maintenance of public order and security (kamtibmas).
This commitment was presented during the Phase II Assessment Visitation for the 2026 Kompolnas Awards, held at the South Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters in Palembang today. Polda Sumsel is one of the five best national nominees in the Regional Police category for this event.
The visitation was led directly by the Commissioner of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) RI, Gufron, accompanied by the Inspector of General Supervision (Irwasum) of the Indonesian National Police, Police Commissioner General Wahyu Widada. The agenda serves as part of the assessment process to ensure data accuracy and to directly observe the continuity of various police programmes oriented towards public interests.
The South Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, emphasised that the ranks of Polda Sumsel do not only perform the function of maintaining public order but also play a role in supporting the priority agenda of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, and the ‘Presisi’ Polri policy, which provides a direct impact on community life.
He asserted that awards are not the primary goal in the execution of policing duties. According to him, the most important measure of the National Police’s success is the benefit felt by the community.
“Awards are an honour, but the highest honour for the National Police is when our presence is directly felt to bring justice, ease, and a sense of security to all layers of the people,” Sandi stated in his remarks on Thursday (3/9/2026).
One of the strategic achievements demonstrated is the support for the food security sector. Polda Sumsel has mobilised the use of 28,394.16 hectares of maize land, producing 116,591.92 tonnes of harvest. This achievement is part of the police’s contribution to strengthening food security while simultaneously supporting community economic activities.
Commitment to community welfare is also realised through various social and development programmes. The South Sumatra Regional Police ranks have completed 139 house renovation units, provided 87 clean water facilities through the construction of boreholes, established 81 ‘Merah Putih’ bridges to support community connectivity, and distributed aid to 141,000 citizens.
These various programmes demonstrate that the presence of the National Police is directed not only towards maintaining security but also towards providing concrete benefits for the community, particularly in meeting basic needs, strengthening connectivity, protecting vulnerable groups, and supporting social and economic activities.
In terms of public services, Polda Sumsel continues to strengthen the use of technology through an integrated Command Centre and the 110 Police Service. This enhancement aims to accelerate police response, increase community access to services, and build a more responsive and integrated public service system.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for Polda Sumsel, Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, emphasised that all ranks continue to strengthen their role as public servants through the execution of professional duties oriented towards public interests.
“We are committed to fully supporting government programmes for the welfare of the community and maintaining strong public order to ensure the sovereignty of national development,” asserted Nandang.
Polda Sumsel also continues to strengthen solidarity and synergy with the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces), local governments, and all elements of society. Collaboration through the ‘Super Team’ concept is a vital part of ensuring various strategic programmes can run in an integrated manner and provide a broader impact.
Through the strengthening of food security, social development, technology-based public services, and the maintenance of public order, Polda Sumsel reaffirms its commitment to presenting a National Police force that is increasingly ‘Presisi’, adaptive, and provides real benefits to the community.
This commitment also serves as Polda Sumsel’s contribution to supporting the national development agenda and towards the realisation of ‘Indonesia Emas 2045’, with community security and welfare as the primary foundations of sustainable development.
