South Sumatra Police Win Three National Awards for Community Service
The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) has brought pride to the region after winning three awards at the 2026 Awarding Day for National Police Appreciation to the Community. The event was part of the 80th Bhayangkara Day celebrations held at The Tribrata Darmawangsa building in South Jakarta.
The three awards were third place for Best Regional Police Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Task Force, second place for Model Community Security Patrol (Satkamling), and third place for District Police-Level Food Security Innovation won by the East Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Police.
This achievement represents national-level recognition of the tangible work carried out by Polda Sumsel together with its ranks, local government, and the community in supporting national priority programmes, particularly food security, public nutrition fulfilment, and strengthening community-based environmental security.
The 2026 Awarding Day served as a form of appreciation for the National Police’s best works and innovations, as well as a platform to showcase the police’s contribution to supporting national development. Dozens of categories were contested, ranging from creative works, public communication, and multimedia to strategic institutional categories such as Model Satkamling, food security innovation, and the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) supporting the MBG Programme.
For Polda Sumsel, the three awards hold a significance beyond mere competition achievements. They demonstrate that programmes built from the regional level together with the community can have an impact and gain appreciation at the national level.
South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho asserted that the awards are the result of joint efforts, not merely an institutional achievement. “This award is clear evidence that the food security and Siskamling strengthening programmes we run with the community have an impact up to the national level. This is not an achievement of the National Police alone, but an achievement of all elements of society who have worked hand in hand to support government programmes in Bumi Sriwijaya,” he stated.
According to Inspector General Sandi, this achievement must become new energy for all personnel to maintain consistency in service while expanding programmes whose benefits can be directly felt by the community. “Let this achievement not stop at the award. Make it a motivation to continue doing good, innovating, and ensuring every programme truly benefits the community,” he said.
The third-place award for Best Regional Police MBG Task Force represents Polda Sumsel’s involvement in supporting the public nutrition fulfilment programme. Meanwhile, the second-place award for Model Satkamling demonstrates the strong participation of the community in jointly maintaining environmental security. The third-place award for District Police-Level Food Security Innovation won by the East OKU Police showcases the contribution of Polda Sumsel’s territorial units in developing food security programmes down to the regional level.
These three achievements also illustrate that the Precision Police approach is realised not only through conventional policing duties but also through collaboration with the community in addressing social issues and supporting the national development agenda.
The 2026 Awarding Day event also featured video testimonials from judges and heads of work units, the announcement of winners, a group photo session, and entertainment as part of the 80th Bhayangkara Day celebrations. The entire series of activities proceeded in an orderly and smooth manner until completion.
Polda Sumsel Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, expressed appreciation for the achievements of his ranks while affirming that the awards carry a responsibility to maintain the quality of service. “This achievement is the result of hard work and synergy of all ranks together with the community. This national-level award motivates us to continue presenting programmes that provide tangible benefits to the community, especially in supporting food security, nutrition fulfilment, and environmental security,” he said.
Commissioner Nandang added that the success aligns with the spirit continuously instilled by the South Sumatra Police Chief in all personnel through the tagline, ‘Have You Done Good Today?’. “This spirit reminds all personnel that the measure of service success is not just awards, but how much the police’s presence can provide benefits and answer the community’s needs,” he explained.
The three national awards at the 2026 Awarding Day serve as momentum for Polda Sumsel to continue strengthening synergy between the National Police, local government, and the community. From food security and nutrition fulfilment to environmental security, these achievements affirm that Precision Policing can be realised through collaborative work that has a direct and sustainable impact on society.
