The Head of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, has affirmed that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) is ready to fully support the implementation of the 2026 Economic Census carried out by the South Sumatra Provincial Statistics Indonesia (BPS). According to him, Polri plays an important role in maintaining regional economic stability, controlling inflation, and securing the distribution of essential goods.

“We are ready to fully support the implementation of the 2026 Economic Census, both through security and coordination in the field, so that the process runs safely and smoothly,” said Sandi in his statement on Monday (13/4/2026).

Polda Sumsel will synergise and strengthen support for the national development agenda alongside BPS Sumsel. This synergy is an important step to ensure the availability of accurate data as the basis for formulating government economic policies.

This was conveyed by Sandi when directly receiving a working visit from the Head of BPS for South Sumatra Province, Moh. Wahyu Yulianto, along with his team, in the Delegate Room on the 2nd Floor of the Presisi Building at Polda Sumsel, on Monday (13/4).

The meeting discussed strengthening coordination in collecting strategic data, including inflation indicators, economic growth, and mapping of micro, small, and medium enterprises. This step is also in line with the directives of the President of the Republic of Indonesia regarding the importance of data validity in supporting the acceleration of national economic development.

In its implementation, Sandi instructed all ranks down to the regional level to provide assistance to BPS officers. Polri personnel will also help by providing appeals to the public to participate actively and provide accurate data during the census process.

This collaboration is expected to produce valid and comprehensive data as the basis for targeted economic policy-making. The data will also support efforts to improve public welfare and strengthen regional economic competitiveness.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of Polda Sumsel, Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, stated that Polda Sumsel is ready to strengthen cooperation with BPS, including through the formal renewal of the cooperation agreement.

“We are committed to fully supporting the implementation of the 2026 Economic Census so that it runs safely, orderly, and smoothly as part of our contribution to national development,” he said.

The South Sumatra Regional Police has reaffirmed its commitment to continue playing an active role in supporting the government’s strategic agenda, not only in maintaining security and order but also in strengthening the foundation of data-based economic development that is accurate and reliable.
