The Regional Police Chief of South Sumatra (Sulsel), Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, stated that his office would restrict vehicles transiting arterial routes during the 2026 Eid holiday exodus.

Vehicles with three axles or more would be temporarily held at the Sumarlin Traffic Post at KM 225, located in the border area between Jambi and South Sumatra, specifically in Musi Banyuasin regency.

“This policy aims to separate the flow of heavy cargo logistics vehicles from private vehicles of travellers, so that potential congestion and traffic accident risks can be minimised,” Sandi told journalists on Sunday (15 March).

Additionally, Sandi stated, the South Sumatra Police would activate a Congestion Response Team comprising joint personnel from the Traffic Directorate and Public Order Directorate.

The team would be stationed in the Timbangan area at KM 12 Banyuasin to conduct mobile patrols and implement rapid traffic engineering measures if vehicle volume increases.

“Holding heavy vehicles at the border, activating the Congestion Response Team, and monitoring at all posts are strategic measures to ensure that travellers’ journeys remain safe and smooth,” he said.

Sandi noted that security measures were also reinforced in the Lubuk Linggau area through four strategic posts: the Station Service Post, Terpadu Lippo Post, Simpang Periuk Security Post, and Petanang Security Post.

These posts were expected to maintain security and public order during the exodus period.

At the regional police level, the Operasi Ketupat Musi Task Force also regularly conducts analysis and evaluation of developments in the field.

“Through these various measures, the South Sumatra Police are committed to ensuring that the Eid holiday exodus in South Sumatra proceeds safely, orderly, and smoothly, so that the public can travel comfortably until reaching their destination,” he said.
