The South Sumatra Regional Police, through the Ogan Ilir Police Resort, held a home renovation action and aid distribution to residents who were victims of a tornado disaster in Ulak Kembahang I Village, Pemulutan Barat Subdistrict, Ogan Ilir. The police collaboratively repaired the home of an elderly resident damaged by the tornado.

“We are here to help and ensure that the community is not alone in facing this calamity. This assistance is a form of care and the commitment of the Indonesian National Police in protecting and nurturing the community,” said the Ogan Ilir Police Chief, AKBP Bagus Suryo Wibowo, as quoted from a written statement on Wednesday (15/4/2026).

He stated that the house being renovated belonged to an elderly resident named Nuridah (65). Her home suffered severe damage and was no longer habitable after the roof collapsed due to a falling coconut tree during the tornado.

AKBP Bagus, along with personnel from the Pemulutan Police Sector, then handed over aid and began the process of repairing Nuridah’s residence. The police brought building materials such as planks, wood, and nails to renovate the destroyed roof, and provided food aid to Nuridah.

The collaborative effort by the police and residents is expected to accelerate the recovery of Nuridah’s home. The Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, stated that this emergency response action was a follow-up to the directives of the South Sumatra Police Chief, Irjen Sandi Nugroho.

“We continue to encourage all ranks to be present in a tangible way. This is a representation of the spirit of ‘Have You Done Good Today?’ which serves as the foundation for the service of South Sumatra Regional Police personnel,” said Nandang.
