Under the direction of South Sumatra Police Chief Irjen Sandi Nugroho, police personnel not only escorted the masses but also provided direct services to the community. This represents a tangible implementation of the Polri Presisi (Predictive, Responsive, and Fair Transparency) programme.

The event, centred at the Simpang Lima of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD Office, was marked by sympathetic actions including a field kitchen facility from the Mobile Brigade Unit (Satbrimob) and free health services from the Medical and Health Division (Biddokkes) of Polda Sumsel.

This step affirms the presence of Polri as protectors, nurturers, and servants of the community.

Approximately 416 workers from various areas—such as Palembang, Muara Enim, Ogan Ilir, Prabumulih, Banyuasin, and PALI—participated in the event titled ‘Rembuk Buruh’. The entire movement of the masses from the gathering point at Benteng Kuto Besak (BKB) to the DPRD building was escorted in an orderly and professional manner by combined personnel from Polda Sumsel.

This service approach aims to ensure that workers’ aspirations can be conveyed safely without disturbing public order. Additionally, this step aligns with national policies in maintaining security stability and the investment climate in the region.

In its implementation, Satbrimob Polda Sumsel prepared a field kitchen to guarantee food availability for both demonstration participants and security personnel. At the same time, Biddokkes Polda Sumsel actively provided free health check services to ensure the physical condition of the masses remains optimal.

The presence of these facilities has a positive impact on security and public order (kamtibmas). The on-site situation was proven to remain controlled, orderly, and highly conducive.

This soft approach is also considered effective in strengthening emotional ties between police apparatus and labour groups.

The Commander of Satbrimob Polda Sumsel, Kombes Susnadi, stated that this service is a direct instruction from the South Sumatra Police Chief to ensure Polri is present in a real way, bringing benefits to the community.

“We are present not only to maintain security but also to serve our brothers and sisters, the workers. The field kitchen and health services are a form of Polri’s care so that the entire series of activities runs smoothly and humanely,” said Kombes Susnadi in a statement received on Saturday (2/5/2026).

In line with this, the Head of Public Relations of Polda Sumsel, Kombes Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, emphasised that the May Day 2026 security strategy represents Polri’s commitment to supporting government programmes. He also assured that yesterday’s May Day event proceeded safely and orderly.

“We ensure that every public expression of opinion can run coolly and orderly. Polda Sumsel facilitates the basic needs of demonstration participants so that kamtibmas stability in South Sumatra remains well maintained,” said Kombes Nandang.

Until the entire series of May Day 2026 commemorations in Palembang City concluded, the situation was monitored as safe and smooth. The demonstration masses dispersed orderly after their aspirations were received by council representatives, with tight police escorts until the workers returned to their respective areas.
