Palembang — The South Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters (Polda Sumsel) strengthened synergy with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional South Sumatra (Sumbagsel) to ensure the security of fuel oil (BBM) and vital energy infrastructure ahead of Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr holiday mass exodus in 1447 H.

This commitment was conveyed at a meeting between Polda Sumsel Chief Irjen Sandi Nugroho and management officials of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagsel in the Delegation Room on the 2nd Floor of the Precision Building at Polda Sumsel Headquarters on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

The meeting formed part of a strategic initiative by Polda Sumsel to anticipate potential disruptions to energy distribution amid increased public mobility ahead of the Eid holiday mass exodus.

Pertamina was led by Executive General Manager Erwin Dwiyanto alongside regional management staff. From Polda Sumsel, Deputy Regional Police Chief Brigjen Pol Rony Samtana, Intelligence and Security Director Kombes Pol Tony Budhi Susetyo, and Special Crimes Director Kombes Pol Doni Satrya Sembiring also attended.

During the meeting, Irjen Sandi highlighted queues of vehicles at several fuel stations on exit routes such as Musi Banyuasin, Ogan Ilir, and Banyuasin, which risked causing traffic congestion and public anxiety.

As a result, Polda Sumsel called for strict oversight of fuel distribution to prevent stockpiling, repeated filling using modified vehicles, or misuse by certain individuals.

Ahead of Operation Ketupat Musi 2026, Sandi also requested mapping of vulnerable fuel distribution points, including along functional toll routes, main arterial roads, rest areas, and areas with potential spikes in fuel consumption.

Additionally, Sandi addressed the management of community-operated oil wells in several South Sumatra regions to ensure attention to workplace safety, environmental protection, and legal certainty.

Sandi emphasised that fuel distribution had far-reaching impact on the social and economic stability of the public.

“Fuel distribution is not merely a matter of supply, but also concerns social and economic stability. Polda Sumsel is ready to provide security at every point that requires it, from depots to fuel stations,” Sandi said.

Executive General Manager Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagsel Erwin Dwiyanto explained that the Sumbagsel operational region covers five provinces — South Sumatra, Jambi, Bengkulu, Lampung, and Bangka Belitung — making coordination with Polda Sumsel important in maintaining smooth energy distribution.
