South Sumatra Police Engage Gen-Z with Mobile Legends Kapolda Cup 2026

The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) is reaching out to the younger generation by holding the ‘e-Sport Mobile Legends Kapolda Cup 2026’. The competition is part of the series of events for the 80th Bhayangkara Day. The competition was opened by South Sumatra Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Rony Samtana. The competition took place in the Auditorium on the 7th Floor of the Presisi Building at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters on Saturday (4/7/2026). ‘The National Police must not be distant from the world of Gen Z and young people. We must be present, understand their space, and direct their energy and creativity towards positive, productive, and constructive activities,’ said Rony, representing South Sumatra Police Chief Sandi Nugroho. ‘This tournament is not just about finding a champion, but is a space for character building, sportsmanship, and togetherness,’ he continued, accompanied by senior officials of the South Sumatra Police. He expressed hope that the tournament would become a platform for fostering sportsmanship and educating young people. The competition is believed to guide participants towards discipline, train leadership, teamwork, strategic thinking skills, and quick and precise decision-making under pressure. ‘The trophy may be a symbol of victory, but attitude, integrity, and sportsmanship are honours that will be remembered. Be a champion who can inspire others,’ Rony added. The South Sumatra Police views the e-Sport community as a strategic means of building a positive, productive, and responsible digital ecosystem. The spirit of nurturing young people to be competitive, superior, and adaptive to digital developments, Rony continued, is in line with the transformation towards a Precise Police force that prioritises a humanist approach. Meanwhile, South Sumatra Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, hopes that communication between the National Police and the digital community will be strengthened through this competition, thereby having a positive impact on maintaining public security and order. ‘We want to show that the National Police is keeping up with the times, opening spaces for collaboration with digital communities, and supporting the birth of a creative, competitive, and character-driven young generation. Fostering the younger generation is a long-term investment to realise sustainable security and support the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision,’ said Nandang regarding the competition, which was attended by representatives from precinct police forces, e-Sport organisations, influencers, and hundreds of participants from various regions in South Sumatra.
