South Sumatra Police Distribute Food Packages to the Elderly in Empat Lawang
The South Sumatra Police, through the Empat Lawang Police, held a social service activity in Lubuk Tanjung village, Muara Pinang sub-district, Empat Lawang regency, in collaboration with the Muara Pinang Police. This social activity targeted elderly citizens and underprivileged communities as part of the series of events commemorating the 80th anniversary of Bhayangkara Day in 2026.
The social service activity took place today, Friday (15 May 2026). Police officers went directly to residents’ homes to ensure that the social assistance was distributed effectively.
In its implementation, personnel from the Muara Pinang Police, led by Aiptu Mardiyanto, along with Bripda Rifaldo and Brigadier Ramdani, visited the home of an elderly resident named Sitimah (90), a resident of Lubuk Tanjung village. Officers handed over a package of basic necessities to help meet their daily needs.
This activity is part of the Indonesian National Police’s strategy to strengthen social resilience and maintain social stability through a humanistic approach that directly addresses the needs of citizens. In addition to strengthening the relationship between the police and the community, this humanitarian action also supports the government’s program in accelerating the handling of extreme poverty and improving the welfare of vulnerable groups in the region.
The Chief of the Empat Lawang Police, AKBP Abdul Aziz Septiadi, affirmed that his ranks will continue to consistently carry out social activities that provide tangible benefits to the community.
“We are committed to ensuring that the presence of police personnel in the field must bring direct benefits to the community, especially elderly citizens and vulnerable groups who need attention and social assistance,” said Abdul.
The Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Police, Kombes Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, said that all ranks of the South Sumatra Police were instructed to continue supporting national development programs through social activities that directly touch the community.
“The South Sumatra Police is committed to fully supporting government programs for the welfare of the community. This social service activity is concrete proof that the police are present not only to maintain security but also to strengthen social resilience in the community to the village level,” said Nandang.
The activity, which started at 09:00 WIB, took place safely, orderly, and in a conducive manner. The humanistic transformation of the police is expected to continue to strengthen public trust while supporting inclusive and sustainable regional development in the South Sumatra region.
