South Sumatra Police Distribute Aid to Fire Victims in Prabumulih

The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) distributed social assistance to residents affected by a fire in the Zibang Dormitory housing complex, West Prabumulih District, Prabumulih City. The initiative aims to provide protection and service to the community. In a written statement on Tuesday (9/6/2026), the activity was led by Prabumulih Police Chief AKBP Bobby Kusumawardhana, accompanied by the Chairwoman of the Prabumulih branch of the Bhayangkari, Ny Wina Bobby Kusumawardhana, along with key officials from the Prabumulih Police and personnel from the West Prabumulih Police Sector. Aid was provided to six heads of families who were victims of the fire. The assistance packages distributed included rice, eggs, instant noodles, and cash aid to help alleviate the burden on residents in meeting their basic needs following the incident. AKBP Bobby stated that the distribution of aid is part of the implementation of ‘Polri Presisi’, which places humanitarian aspects as a priority in community service. According to him, the police are also present to ensure that residents affected by disasters receive attention, moral support, and tangible aid. He said the police’s presence amidst disaster-affected communities has a positive impact on the social and psychological recovery of residents. He hopes the assistance provided can help meet urgent needs while strengthening the sense of community and social solidarity. ‘We are present not only as law enforcement officers but also as part of the community who cares for others. This assistance may not be able to replace all the losses suffered by the victims, but we hope it can ease their burden a little and give them the spirit to rise again,’ said AKBP Bobby. Meanwhile, Polda Sumsel’s Head of Public Relations, Kombes Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, stated that the humanitarian activity carried out by the Prabumulih Police is part of the police force’s commitment to supporting community social resilience and strengthening the state’s presence among citizens in need. ‘We are committed to fully supporting government programmes for the welfare of the community. The police’s presence in disaster situations or social tragedies is a tangible form of humanitarian service aimed at providing a sense of security, strengthening social solidarity, and helping the community through difficult times,’ said Kombes Nandang.
