The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) has officially commenced the 2026 Fiscal Year Education for the Formation of Non-Commissioned Officers (Bintara) with Integrated Police Service Centre (SPKT) capabilities at the Betung State Police School (SPN). A total of 131 students have formally begun their training. The opening ceremony was led by South Sumatra Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Pol Rony Samtana, representing South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Pol Dr. Sandi Nugroho. On the occasion, the Deputy Police Chief read a mandate from the Head of the Police Education and Training Institute, which emphasised that education is a strategic stage in shaping superior, adaptive, and professional human resources for the Indonesian National Police (Polri), capable of meeting the challenges of policing in the modern era. Nationally, the 2026 Fiscal Year Education for the Formation of Bintara Polri with SPKT Capabilities is attended by 4,792 students spread across all State Police Schools in Indonesia. Of that number, 131 students are undergoing education at SPN Betung under the guidance of the Head of SPN Polda Sumsel, Senior Commissioner Pol Dr. Ferry Harahap. Over the next five months, the students will undergo education based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE), which emphasises character building, discipline, leadership, professionalism, integrity, technical policing skills, literacy strengthening, information technology utilisation, and respect for human rights. The curriculum is designed to produce Bintara Polri capable of providing excellent service, particularly in carrying out duties at the Integrated Police Service Centre as the gateway for police services to the public. In the mandate read by the Deputy Police Chief, the Head of the Police Education and Training Institute also stressed the importance of building the character of a Bhayangkara who has integrity, critical thinking skills, is adaptive to technological developments, and is able to support various national priority programmes, including food security and strengthening national development. Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Pol Rony Samtana affirmed that this formation education is a strategic process in building the character and professionalism of every prospective police member. “All students must follow every stage of education with full discipline, enthusiasm, and responsibility. Make this educational institution a place to shape integrity, capability, and a spirit of dedication so that you can later provide the best service to the community and uphold the honour of the Polri institution,” he said in a written statement on Monday (20/7/2026). Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of Polda Sumsel, Senior Commissioner Pol Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, stated that the Bintara SPKT formation education is an important part of preparing superior Polri human resources capable of meeting the increasingly dynamic needs of public service. “The 131 SPN Betung students are the best sons and daughters who have gone through an objective, transparent, accountable, and humanistic selection process. They will be shaped into Polri personnel who are professional, have integrity, master technology, possess good communication skills, and prioritise fast, humanistic, and community satisfaction-oriented service,” he said. According to him, Polda Sumsel is committed to ensuring the entire educational process runs according to established standards, prioritising quality development, free from all forms of deviation, and focusing on the formation of the Bhayangkara Presisi character. Through this education, Polda Sumsel is optimistic that a new generation of Bintara Polri will be born with high competence, integrity, and dedication in carrying out their duties as protectors, guardians, and public servants. This step is also part of Polri’s commitment to realising superior human resources to support the creation of a safe and conducive public security and order situation, as well as supporting the success of national development.
