South Sumatra Police Collaborate with Pertamina EP to Support National Energy Resilience
The signing of the cooperation agreement with PT Pertamina EP took place in the Multi-Purpose Room on the 2nd Floor of the Presisi Building at the South Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters on Monday (11/5/2026). The South Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, emphasised that this agreement represents the police’s full support for the implementation of Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 14 of 2025. The regulation organises the management of oil wells by Regional Government-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), cooperatives, and SMEs to operate in an orderly, safe, legal, and productive manner.
“The main commitment of this oil well governance is to ensure there are no more fatalities from work accidents, and no more environmental pollution. Moving forward, we must jointly revitalise environments that have already been impacted. This is our responsibility to future generations,” stated Inspector General Sandi.
Inspector General Sandi explained that this synergy aims to transform previously unregulated activities into legal and structured ones. Polda Sumsel encourages Pertamina to maximally absorb community production outputs with transparent quality standards and purchase prices, thereby substantially improving community welfare.
The primary approach promoted by Polda Sumsel is preemptive and preventive measures through ongoing legal education and guidance, in synergy with cross-sectoral integrated task forces. The Police Chief warned parties who fail to comply with the new governance agreement.
“For individuals who still attempt to conduct distillation or drilling practices outside the agreed governance framework, we at Polda Sumsel are fully committed to taking firm legal action,” he asserted.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by energy sector leaders, including SKK Migas Internal Supervisor Inspector General Ibnu Suhaendra, Director of Upstream Oil and Gas Development at KESDM Ariana Soemanto, Acting Head of SKK Migas Representation for Sumbagsel Safe’i, Head of Operations Department SKK Migas Sumbagsel Bambang Dwi Djanuarto, Director 1 of PT Pertamina EP Muhammad Arifin, up to VP Legal Counsel of PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan Ni Luh Gede Rahmana Santi, and General Manager of PHR Zone 4 Djudjuwanto.
From within Polda Sumsel, the event was accompanied by main officials including the Head of Operations Bureau, Head of Intelligence and Security, Head of Special Criminal Investigation, Head of Traffic Security, Head of Public Relations, Head of Legal, Head of Logistics, and the Musi Banyuasin Police Chief.
This cooperation signing is expected to be a monumental step that solidifies sustainable synergy between the Indonesian National Police, the government, and the energy sector. Polda Sumsel will continue to oversee the implementation of this governance to make the South Sumatra region a model for lawful, environmentally conscious resource management that brings equitable prosperity to the people.
“Through this cross-sectoral synergy, we anticipate various potential field dynamics. Our shared hope is clear: increased oil lifting, enhanced community welfare, preserved environmental sustainability, and maintained conducive security conditions,” stated Inspector General Sandi.
