South Sumatra Police Chief Opens Banyuasin Police Expo 2026, Stirs National Fighting Spirit
The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) has made the spirit of Police Service Day (Hari Juang Polri) a strong foundation for strengthening collaboration with the community. South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho directly stirred this fighting spirit when opening the Banyuasin Police Expo 2026.
The event is a strategic step by the police to embrace the younger generation so that they actively participate in maintaining public security and order (Kamtibmas).
In his remarks, Inspector General Sandi reflected on the historical values of the police struggle in the early days of independence. He reminded that the police’s dedication to the country has been deeply embedded since the nation was founded.
“The existence of the police has been proven historically since four days after Indonesia’s independence, the Special Police already existed and has supported the government until now. The spirit of the 17 August Proclamation is still burning, and it is fuelled further by Police Service Day on 21 August,” said Inspector General Sandi, in a written statement on Wednesday (26/8/2026).
Furthermore, Inspector General Sandi emphasised that today’s security challenges require solid cross-sectoral collaboration. The police institution cannot work alone without full support from various elements.
“The police cannot work alone. Without the support of the regional government, without the support of the Council Chairman, from our TNI colleagues, all Forkopimda members, and the entire community, the police will not be able to work properly,” stressed Inspector General Sandi.
Inspector General Sandi also invited all parties to make security a communal responsibility.
“Let us maintain security and order in our environment together, because we realise and believe that security belongs to all of us,” said Inspector General Sandi.
The Banyuasin Police Expo 2026 is not only an exhibition and information event for Polri recruitment, but also a crucial educational platform for the younger generation. The activity provides literacy on the dangers of drugs, bullying prevention, and anticipation of technology misuse such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) modification.
Placing great hope in the next generation, Inspector General Sandi advised students to make the most of this momentum.
“Young people, community organisations and students are certainly the hope of parents to become the gems of future leaders. Therefore, the present time needs to be filled with positive things that can become capital for the future,” said Inspector General Sandi.
Adding to what Inspector General Sandi conveyed, the Head of Public Relations of Polda Sumsel, Senior Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, said the expo is a form of gratitude from Polri for the unwavering support of the community.
“The fighting spirit of police heroes in the past has now transformed into a spirit of collaboration. Through strong synergy between officers and all levels of citizens, we ensure that security is not merely the police’s duty, but belongs to everyone,” stressed Senior Commissioner Nandang.
“In accordance with the determination we continue to echo: Nyago Bumi Sriwijaya, Aman Bae!,” he continued.
With collaboration continuously fostered through positive activities such as the Police Expo, it is hoped that the synergy between Polri, the regional government, and the people of South Sumatra will grow stronger in creating a safe, orderly, and conducive region.
For information, the event carrying the spirit of ‘Proclamation and Police Service Day’ was also attended by Deputy Chief of Polda Sumsel Brigadier General Rony Samtana, Deputy Regent of Banyuasin Ir Netta Indian, Chairman of the Banyuasin Regency DPRD Abdul Rais, Forkopimda members, and the wider community.
