South Sumatra Police Chief Leads Pancasila Day Ceremony, Urges Youth to Embrace 'Living Ideology'

The South Sumatra Police (Polda Sumsel) held a ceremony to commemorate Pancasila’s Birthday today. South Sumatra Police Chief Irjen Sandi Nugroho urged the youth to apply Pancasila’s values in daily life.

The ceremony took place on Monday, 1 June 2026, at 7:00 AM WIB at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters grounds. Irjen Sandi, alongside senior officials and personnel, participated in the event.

“I call on all elements of society, especially the youth as guardians of the future, to make Pancasila a living ideology. Do not let these noble values remain merely decorations on office walls or text in history books,” he stressed.

According to Irjen Sandi, Pancasila serves as a guiding star for the Indonesian nation, particularly amid current global uncertainties.

“Pancasila is a ‘guiding star’ that has proven its resilience. Amid a world marked by uncertainty and fragmentation threats, Indonesia stands firm as a tangible example of how diversity spanning over 17,000 islands and hundreds of ethnic groups can be united under one national bond,” he stated in his address.

In his message, Pancasila was also emphasised as a highly relevant guide for preserving national unity against various forms of division. This aligns with South Sumatra Police’s commitment to humanistic approaches and dialogue.

The values of consultation and consensus embedded in Pancasila energise the police to engage with citizens, bridge differences, and ensure public spaces remain peaceful and harmonious.

This year’s Pancasila Day commemoration carries the theme ‘Pancasila: National Unifier, Foundation of World Peace’. During the event, South Sumatra Police Chief read out a message from the Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), highlighting the importance of humanitarian values and unity.
