South Sumatra Police Chief Inspects Operation Ketupat 2026 Security Posts, Distributes Aid and Iftar Meals
The South Sumatra Regional Police Chief (Kapolda Sumsel), Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, inspected security posts for Operation Ketupat 2026. During this visit, he also distributed aid and iftar meals at various strategic locations across the region.
The activity was centred at the security post at Simpang 5 DPRD Provinsi, Jalan Kapten A. Rivai. According to Inspector General Sandi, this operation served as a command centre for similar activities conducted by all regional units across South Sumatra to ensure complete preparedness.
He emphasised that the operation, which involved 39 military and police personnel along with South Sumatra’s Civil Protection Unit (Satpol PP) at this location, represented integrated security coordination to ensure rapid response and adequate patrol infrastructure. In his directive, Inspector General Sandi stressed the importance of uniform action across all jurisdictions under South Sumatra Police authority.
“Today we are moving simultaneously across all ranks to ensure there are no gaps in community security. This post inspection is evidence that all personnel, from administration to patrol vehicles, are in a state of full readiness to provide rapid response at every corner of South Sumatra,” said Inspector General Sandi in a written statement on Tuesday (17 March 2026).
During the activity, Inspector General Sandi was accompanied by the chairman and board members of Bhayangkari as well as senior officials from South Sumatra Police headquarters.
The distribution of iftar meals to road users was conducted as a cooling system strategy to ease tensions whilst educating the public about traffic discipline in a persuasive manner.
“This simultaneous operation also carries a humanitarian mission. We want to demonstrate that behind these uniforms, the police still uphold family values. This simultaneous distribution of iftar meals is our way of greeting the community in a humane manner, whilst easing the situation (cooling system) so that public order and security remains conducive and warm,” he added.
