The large-scale religious activity was led directly by the South Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, as a form of gratitude and implementation of the Indonesian National Police’s humanistic approach in maintaining stability and public order by strengthening religious values. The Quran recitation took place on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM in South Sumatra, involving at least 10 Islamic boarding schools.

Some of the locations included the Albadar Kemuning Islamic Boarding School, the Masdarul Ulum Pemulutan Islamic Boarding School, and the Alfaqihiyyah Banyuasin Islamic Boarding School. The activity also included a joint prayer for blessings, security, and the progress of development in South Sumatra, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary.

The South Sumatra Police stated that national development does not only rely on infrastructure and economic aspects but also requires spiritual strength, moral resilience, and social harmony within the community. Through this activity, the police force strengthens the synergy between religious leaders, students, and state officials in maintaining regional stability amidst the dynamics of national development.

Hundreds of students, religious figures, heads of Islamic boarding schools, and police personnel participated in the recitation, reciting verses from the Quran for the safety of the nation, the peace of the region, and the success of the government’s development agenda in South Sumatra.

This activity is also part of the implementation of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo’s policy regarding the transformation of the Indonesian National Police, which places religious and social approaches as one of the strategies for strengthening community-based security.

The South Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, affirmed that the dedication of the police must go hand in hand with the religious values and culture of the community. He hopes that South Sumatra will become a progressive, safe, and prosperous province.

“We want to ensure that in overseeing national development and maintaining regional security, the police always seeks the blessing of God Almighty. The 80 recitations are our prayers and hopes for South Sumatra to become more advanced, safe, and prosperous in its 80th year,” said Inspector General Sandi on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Furthermore, the Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Police, Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, added that this simultaneous Quran recitation is also part of a cooling system strategy to strengthen social resilience through spiritual approaches and humanistic communication. He believes that strong security and public order are born from spiritual approaches.

“This simultaneous Quran recitation is a form of commitment from the South Sumatra Police in supporting the creation of a harmonious and conducive society. We believe that strong security and public order are born from spiritual closeness, synergy between religious leaders and authorities, and the presence of a humanistic police force within the community,” said Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya.
