South Sumatra Police Chief Holds Human Resources Evaluation, Prepares Personnel Competency Enhancement
South Sumatra Police Chief (South Sumatra) Inspector General Sandi Nugroho held an evaluation of human resources (HR) competencies within the South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) ranks. He stated that enhancing personnel competencies is a crucial matter.
The evaluation was conducted during a coffee morning event combined with presentations from principal officials regarding the main duties and functions of the South Sumatra Polda HR Bureau at Cafe 96 Room, Promoter Building of South Sumatra Polda, on Monday (6/4/2026). In addition to Sandi, the event was attended by the Deputy Police Chief of South Sumatra, the Police Internal Affairs Chief of South Sumatra Polda, and various principal officials of South Sumatra Polda.
The event was held to jointly evaluate the actual condition of personnel, HR development challenges, and strategic steps to strengthen the professionalism of South Sumatra Polda members. Sandi stated that personnel evaluation should not be limited to quantitative aspects but must also cover the quality of abilities, knowledge, skills, mental, physical, and ethics of the personnel.
“Members’ competencies are a mandatory requirement for professional task implementation. Therefore, training is no longer just about making members smarter, but must become a basic need so that personnel can carry out tasks well and correctly,” said Sandi, as quoted from a written statement.
He emphasised that every work unit should be able to build a consistent and directed learning culture. According to him, improving personnel capabilities does not have to depend on large budgets but can be done through routine training, self-learning, and utilising knowledge from personnel who already have certain experience and competencies.
The Head of HR of South Sumatra Polda, Commissioner Sudrajad Hariwibowo, stated that HR development encompasses the entire personnel management cycle, from recruitment, education, utilisation, maintenance, to service termination. He also highlighted the importance of accelerating competency improvements for members.
“There are still many personnel who have not undergone vocational education, so accelerating competency enhancement must continue to be driven through the Polri Learning programme and independent training at work units or regional offices,” said Sudrajad.
Additionally, he explained that the direction of South Sumatra Polda HR policies for 2026 focuses on accepting Polri members who are BETAH, optimising digitalisation of HR services, enhancing personnel competencies and education, strengthening humanistic values that uphold human rights, and reinforcing integrity and personnel welfare.
Through this event, South Sumatra Polda reaffirms its commitment to building superior, professional, and integrity-driven Polri HR. The joint evaluation is expected to become a concrete step in strengthening personnel quality, thereby supporting the implementation of policing tasks in South Sumatra.
