South Sumatra Police Chief Hands Over Borehole Well and Constructs Al-Qur'an House in East OKU

The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) continues to strengthen its humanitarian commitment through programmes that address the basic needs of the community. Polda Sumsel has provided assistance in the form of a borehole well for the Tahfizh Romadhon Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes) as well as the construction of the Al-Ilmu Al-Qur’an House in Martapura, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) East Regency.

This programme was initiated by the South Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, as a tangible implementation of the Indonesian National Police’s (Polri) presence among the people, particularly in supporting the religious and educational sectors. The on-site inauguration of the assistance was led by the OKU East Police Chief, AKBP Dwi Agung Setyono, representing the South Sumatra Police Chief.

The borehole well inauguration ceremony at Ponpes Tahfizh Romadhon in Kotabaru Village proceeded solemnly, attended by religious figures, boarding school administrators, and the students.

This borehole well assistance is expected to serve as a long-term solution for the students in meeting their clean water needs for worship, consumption, and daily sanitation.

Not only water infrastructure, but the synergy between Polri and the religious education sector also continues in South Kotabaru Village. There, the OKU East Police Chief distributed assistance to accelerate the construction of the Al-Ilmu Al-Qur’an House.

During his visit, AKBP Dwi took the time to inspect teaching and learning activities and engage in dialogue with the teachers.

“The South Sumatra Police Chief conveys warm regards along with hopes that this assistance becomes a means of goodness for the students. Polri is present not only as a security guardian but also as a partner in developing religious human resources,” stated AKBP Dwi in his remarks on Monday (30/3/2026).

Separately, the Head of Public Relations of Polda Sumsel, Commissioner Sunarto, emphasised that this social action is part of Polri’s Precision transformation, where public service and social care become top priorities.

“The South Sumatra Police Chief continually encourages all ranks to be sensitive to conditions in their areas. Public trust is a mandate that must be maintained through beneficial concrete actions. We want to ensure that Polri’s presence provides a positive impact on the quality of community life,” he explained.

Polda Sumsel hopes that harmonious relations between the police and the boarding school community continue to be maintained, while proving that Polri is fully committed to supporting social and spiritual development in the South Sumatra region.
