South Sumatra Police Chief Emphasises Synergy in Maintaining Security and Order During Iftar Gathering with Youth Organisations and Students
South Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, held an Iftar gathering with youth organisations (OKP), Cipayung Plus, and student representatives from across South Sumatra as a forum for fostering camaraderie and dialogue to strengthen strategic partnerships in maintaining security and public order, at the Harper Hotel in Palembang, on Thursday, 26 February 2026.
This event was attended by a number of youth and student elements, including the Head of the South Sumatra KNPI Regional Council, Rudianto Widodo, representatives from the Cipayung Plus and OKP organisations such as IPNU, PMII, IMM, HMI, KAMMI, GMKI, KMHDI, PII, GP Ansor, Pemuda Muhammadiyah, as well as a number of student presidents from various universities, including Sriwijaya University, UIN, PGRI University, Sriwijaya Polytechnic, UIGM, STIK Siti Khadijah, IBA, to cross-network BEMs and student communities.
The Police Chief emphasised that the joint Iftar event was a moment to strengthen national brotherhood and enhance communication between the police and young people.
“This event is not just about breaking fast, but it is a forum for fostering camaraderie, dialogue, and togetherness to strengthen brotherhood within the framework of the nation,” he said.
In his speech, the Police Chief also emphasised that maintaining regional stability and conduciveness is a shared responsibility. He invited youth organisations and students to actively participate in building a positive climate and maintaining unity in diversity.
“Security and order are not only the responsibility of the police. Maintaining security and public order is a collective responsibility for all of us,” he said.
The Police Chief said that the role of youth and students is very central as drivers of the narrative of unity and strategic partners in maintaining a healthy and inclusive public space.
According to him, future leaders will emerge from among young people and students, so their active involvement in maintaining conduciveness is a social investment for South Sumatra.
On this occasion, the Police Chief also reaffirmed the commitment of the South Sumatra Police to open up constructive communication channels with all youth and student elements.
“The communication channels are always open. Criticism, suggestions, and input are part of strengthening the institution,” he said.
The Police Chief was accompanied by a number of senior officials from the South Sumatra Police, namely the Head of Intelligence and Security, Commissioner Tony Budhi Susetyo, the Head of Traffic, Commissioner Maesa Soegriwo, the Head of Community Guidance, Commissioner Hari Purnomo, the Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, and the Chief of the Palembang Police, Commissioner Sonny Mahar Budi Adityawan.
