Palembang – The South Sumatra Police Chief, Brigadier General Sandi Nugroho, attended a joint breaking of the fast gathering with the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) family at the Satya Hastiguna Tribute Hall, South Sumatra Police Mobile Brigade Headquarters, on Monday 16 March 2026.

The event, held in a warm and familial atmosphere, was attended by approximately 300 Brimob personnel and their families, including members of Bhayangkari, retired officers, widows of fallen officers, and orphaned children from the Brimob family.

The Police Chief was accompanied by Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Rony Samtana, South Sumatra Bhayangkari Ladies Chapter Chair Eka Sandi Nugroho, Mobile Brigade Commander Senior Commissioner Susnadi, and other senior officials.

The breaking of the fast gathering served as an opportunity to strengthen bonds and unity between leadership and personnel.

During the occasion, Sandi expressed appreciation for the strategic role of Brimob, both in maintaining security and order and in assisting community recovery following disasters.

In his remarks, Sandi emphasised that Brimob is a unit always present on the frontline in various policing tasks, ranging from territorial security, support for the Musi Ketupat Operation 2026 ahead of Eid al-Fitr, to humanitarian missions in several disaster-affected areas across the island of Sumatra.

Sandi specifically commended the Mobile Brigade personnel involved in handling natural disasters in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

According to him, the presence of Brimob in disaster-affected areas demonstrates that the Police’s duties extend beyond mere security maintenance, but also help communities recover and restore conditions following disasters.

“The dedication of Brimob personnel who directly assist disaster victims in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra is clear evidence that the Police are always present for the community, not only in security duties but also in humanitarian missions,” Sandi said.

The occasion also featured the Mobile Brigade’s field kitchen vehicle, which was previously used in humanitarian assistance operations during the Aceh Tamiang disaster. The vehicle received direct attention from the President of the Republic of Indonesia because of its role in supporting disaster victims’ logistical needs.

Sandi and other senior officials also tasted the menu prepared by Brimob’s field kitchen personnel. This moment symbolised appreciation for the readiness and humanitarian logistics capabilities of the South Sumatra Mobile Brigade in supporting emergency response operations.
