The South Sumatra Police Chief Irjen Sandi Nugroho attended a breaking of the Ramadan fast with the extended family of the Mobile Brigade (Satbrimob) of South Sumatra Police Command at the Satya Hastiguna Tribune at Satbrimob’s headquarters. During the event, Sandi expressed appreciation for Brimob’s role in post-disaster recovery efforts.

The activity, conducted in a warm and familial atmosphere, was attended by approximately 300 Brimob personnel and their families, including members of Bhayangkari (police wives’ organisation), retired officers, and widows of fallen personnel, as well as orphaned children from the Brimob family.

The South Sumatra Police Chief was accompanied by the Deputy Police Chief Brigjen Rony Samtana, the Chairwoman of the South Sumatra Bhayangkari Region Ny. Eka Sandi Nugroho, the Commander of Satbrimob Polda Sumsel Kombes Susnadi, and other senior officials from South Sumatra Police Command.

The joint breaking of the fast served as an opportunity to strengthen bonds and unity between leadership and personnel. During the occasion, the South Sumatra Police Chief also expressed appreciation for Brimob’s strategic role in both maintaining public order and security and assisting in recovery efforts for communities affected by disasters.

In his remarks, Sandi emphasised that Brimob is a unit always present on the frontlines in various policing duties, ranging from territorial security and support for Operation Ketupat Musi 2026 ahead of Eid Al-Fitr, to humanitarian missions in several disaster-affected areas across Sumatra.

Sandi specifically commended personnel from Satbrimob Polda Sumsel involved in handling natural disasters in Aceh Province, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. According to him, Brimob’s presence in disaster-affected areas demonstrates that the Indonesian National Police’s mission extends beyond security maintenance to helping communities recover and rebuild after disaster.

“The dedication of Brimob personnel who directly assisted disaster victims in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra is concrete evidence that the National Police are always present for the community, not only in security duties but also in humanitarian missions,” Sandi stated.

On this occasion, the Satbrimob Polda Sumsel’s field kitchen vehicle, previously used in humanitarian assistance operations during the disaster in Aceh Tamiang, was also on display. The vehicle previously received direct attention from President Prabowo Subianto due to its role in supporting logistical needs for disaster victims.

Sandi and the senior officials of South Sumatra Police Command also sampled the meals prepared by Brimob’s field kitchen personnel. This moment symbolised appreciation for the readiness and humanitarian logistics capabilities possessed by Satbrimob Polda Sumsel in supporting emergency response operations.

Besides the breaking of the fast, the South Sumatra Police Chief and the Chairwoman of the South Sumatra Bhayangkari Region also distributed aid packages containing basic necessities to personnel and their families as a gesture of the leadership’s attention to their ranks.

The series of activities began with a performance by a Mawlid recitation team, recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, and a Ramadan sermon, before proceeding with breaking the fast together and the sunset prayer in congregation.

The Head of Public Relations at South Sumatra Police Command Kombes Nandang Mu’min Wijaya stated that the activity served not only as an internal moment of unity but also as moral reinforcement for all personnel in carrying out policing and humanitarian duties.

“Unity between leadership, personnel, and Bhayangkari families becomes moral strength for South Sumatra Police Command in carrying out the duty of maintaining public order and security as well as implementing various humanitarian missions amongst the community,” Nandang said.

The activity concluded with informal socialising between leadership and all attending personnel. The Ramadan spirit fostered through this unity served as a reminder that behind the security and humanitarian operations carried out, Brimob is always present with the spirit of service, loyalty, and care for the community.
