South Sumatra Police Chief and PLN S2JB Discuss Ways to Maintain Safe and Stable Electricity Supply
Efforts to maintain the stability of electricity supply in South Sumatra continue to attract attention from various parties. One example is the meeting between regional police officials and the state electricity provider company, which discussed strengthening coordination, particularly in securing national vital objects.
South Sumatra Police Chief, Irjen Pol Sandi Nugroho, received a visit from the leadership of PT PLN (Persero) South Sumatra, Jambi, and Bengkulu Distribution Unit (UID S2JB) at the South Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters on Friday (27/3/2026). This meeting served as a forum for discussion to align steps in maintaining electricity reliability, which plays a crucial role in community activities and the economy.
During the meeting, the Police Chief emphasised that the police and PLN have interrelated responsibilities in public service. Electricity stability, according to him, is not only about household needs but also has a significant impact on security and the smooth operation of various sectors.
“A stable electricity supply greatly supports police operations and economic activities. No agency can work alone; this synergy is the key to stability in security and accelerating development in South Sumatra,” said the Police Chief.
He also appreciated PLN’s role in maintaining electricity supply, especially during important moments such as the Eid homecoming and return flow, which falls under Operation Ketupat. The availability of well-maintained electricity is seen as aiding the smooth security in toll roads and rest areas.
This meeting also serves as a follow-up to the previously established cooperation through the Memorandum of Understanding between PLN and Polri in 2022. The cooperation covers various aspects, from data exchange, security, to enhancing human resource capacity.
In addition, the Police Chief highlighted the potential of South Sumatra as a region with abundant energy availability. He assessed that this condition could become an opportunity to attract investment and encourage industrial area growth, provided it is managed well.
On the other hand, public communication aspects also received attention. The Police Chief reminded the importance of delivering accurate information to the public, especially regarding electricity services. Unclear or incorrect information has the potential to cause public anxiety.
“We must educate the public on the importance of maintaining the electricity network. Thorough planning and coordination from the start are key to mitigating risks of disruptions in the field,” he added.
