South Sumatra Police Chief and Forkopimda Greet Thousands at Bhayangkara Run

The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) held the grand Sumsel Bhayangkara Run 2026 at Jakabaring Sport City, Palembang. The mass sporting event was not only packed with 8,035 runners but also became a real stage for the camaraderie of the South Sumatra Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), who came down directly to greet the public without barriers. Since dawn, the South Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, along with other Forkopimda members, appeared to mingle enthusiastically in the flag-off area. The regional leaders jointly provided encouragement while directly releasing the participants to run in the 21K, 10K, and 5K categories. The excitement of the event peaked when the Governor of South Sumatra, Herman Deru, also attended and joined the sea of participants after the run concluded. Herman Deru’s presence further completed the portrait of Forkopimda’s cohesiveness in greeting residents directly at the event location. The Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Police, Senior Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, explained that the presence of regional leaders among thousands of runners was not merely ceremonial but carried a strong moral message to strengthen solidarity in Bumi Sriwijaya. ‘The main message is synergy and togetherness. This running sport teaches sportsmanship and equality, where everyone from various backgrounds is in the same place. Through this event, we can see firsthand how solid the Forkopimda ranks are in South Sumatra. Regional leaders and the community blend into one,’ said Senior Commissioner Nandang in his statement on Sunday (12/7/2026). He further added that the cohesiveness of the South Sumatra Forkopimda was also proven through the collaboration and full support of all government elements in making the 80th Bhayangkara Day celebration a success, so that the event could run festively, safely, and orderly. ‘The support from various parties, especially the Governor and Forkopimda ranks, was extraordinary. This collaboration is a tangible form of state institutions’ concern for their citizens. We want to ensure that in this moment of the 80th Bhayangkara Day celebration, happiness and the spirit of unity are truly felt directly by the wider community,’ he stressed. Through the success of this cross-agency collaboration in the Sumsel Bhayangkara Run 2026, the Indonesian National Police hopes that the conducive climate, sense of security, and spirit of mutual cooperation in South Sumatra will continue to be maintained to welcome the progress of regional development in the future.
