South Sumatra Police Check Service Firearms to Ensure Compliance with Procedures
The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel), through its Professional and Security Division (Bidpropam), carried out a thorough inspection of service firearms. The results indicate that the majority of service firearms are managed well and in accordance with procedures.
This activity was conducted at the Satker Polda Sumsel firearms warehouse and was directly led by the Head of Propam, Raden Azis Safiri. The activity was carried out based on the South Sumatra Regional Police Chief’s Order Number Sprin/564/IV/HUK.6.6./2026 as a concrete step in strengthening inherent supervision (waskat) and maintaining accountability in the use of service firearms.
“This activity is a real commitment from Polda Sumsel to ensure that every service firearm is used responsibly in accordance with procedures. We do not allow any room for violations,” stated the Head of Public Relations of Polda South Sumatra, Senior Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, to reporters on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
Furthermore, he emphasised that this periodic supervision is important in building a professional, transparent Indonesian National Police (Polri) institution that is trusted by the public. He assured that Polda Sumsel operates within the corridors of the law.
“Discipline is the breath of the institution. With orderly and accountable management of firearms, we demonstrate that Polda Sumsel works professionally within the legal framework,” he explained.
It is known that a joint team from the Subbidprovos of Bidpropam, together with Logistics personnel, conducted a comprehensive examination of thousands of firearms, both short-barrelled and long-barrelled. The inspection covered the physical condition of the weapons, cleanliness, and mechanical function to ensure that all equipment is in operational readiness and fit for use in carrying out police duties.
This inspection was carried out at various strategic work units, including Ditlantas, Ditpamobvit, Ditintelkam, Ditreskrimsus, Ditresnarkoba, Ditpolair, Ditsamapta, as well as district police stations such as Palembang Police Headquarters, Ogan Ilir Police Resort, Banyuasin Police Resort, and Prabumulih Police Resort.
Overall, the audit results show that the majority of service firearms are managed well and in accordance with procedures. This reflects a high level of discipline among personnel in the use and management of state assets.
In addition to technical aspects, Bidpropam also focused on examining the administration of firearm use. Officers verified the validity period of the firearm borrowing and usage permit cards (IPPSA) held by personnel.
This step aims to ensure that every personnel handling firearms has met the administrative, psychological, and competency requirements set by the institution.
This administrative tidying is an important instrument in preventing potential abuse of authority while ensuring that all state assets are recorded transparently and accountably.
This thorough inspection reaffirms the dedication of Polda South Sumatra in maintaining internal supervision standards, personnel discipline, and accountability in managing state assets.
Through the strengthening of a sustainable supervision system, Polda Sumsel ensures that every personnel is ready to carry out duties professionally, supported by proper facilities and infrastructure, orderly administration, and accountability.
