South Sumatra Police and Pertamina Strengthen Energy Security Coordination Ahead of Eid Homecoming
The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) has strengthened coordination with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional South Sumatra (Sumbagsel) to ensure the security of fuel distribution and vital energy infrastructure. This collaboration was established ahead of the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H homecoming season.
The commitment was announced during a meeting between South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho and Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagsel management at the Mapolda Sumsel Command Centre Precision Building Delegation Room, Thursday 12 March 2026.
The Police Chief emphasised that fuel distribution has far-reaching implications for social and economic stability.
“Fuel distribution is not merely a supply matter, but also concerns social and economic stability. Polda Sumsel is ready to be present at every point requiring security, from storage depots to filling stations,” said Inspector General Sandi.
He highlighted queuing vehicles at several filling stations on city exit routes, such as Musi Banyuasin, Ogan Ilir, and Banyuasin, which could cause traffic congestion and public unease. Polda Sumsel has advocated for strict monitoring of fuel distribution to prevent hoarding, repeated filling using modified vehicles, and misuse of distribution by certain parties.
In anticipation of Operation Ketupat Musi 2026, Sandi also requested mapping of high-risk fuel distribution points, including along functional toll roads, major arterial routes, rest areas, and areas with potential surges in fuel consumption. He also raised concerns about managing community-owned oil wells in several South Sumatra regions to ensure compliance with occupational safety, environmental protection, and legal certainty standards.
The Head of South Sumatra Police Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, added that Polda Sumsel and Pertamina would continue coordinating to ensure smooth fuel and liquefied petroleum gas distribution, particularly ahead of Ramadan and the Eid homecoming period.
The meeting resulted in an understanding to strengthen operational coordination and finalise mapping of energy distribution high-risk points ahead of Operation Ketupat Musi 2026.
The meeting represents a strategic step by Polda Sumsel to anticipate potential disruptions to energy distribution amid increasing public mobility ahead of the Eid homecoming season.
Pertamina was represented by Executive General Manager Erwin Dwiyanto alongside the regional management team. From Polda Sumsel, the Deputy Chief, Brigadier General Rony Samtana, Intelligence and Security Director Senior Commissioner Tony Budhi Susetyo, and Criminal Investigation Director Senior Commissioner Doni Satrya Sembiring were present.
Executive General Manager Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagsel Erwin Dwiyanto explained that the Sumbagsel operational area covers five provinces—South Sumatra, Jambi, Bengkulu, Lampung, and Bangka Belitung—making coordination with Polda Sumsel essential for maintaining smooth energy distribution.
