South Sumatra Governor: Sultan Muda Programme Reaches 10,334 Participants
It was announced today that the number of Sultan Muda programme participants has reached over 10,000, specifically 10,334 registered individuals.
The Governor of South Sumatra, Herman Deru, stated that the number of participants in the South Sumatra Sultan Muda Programme has reached 10,334 as of July 2026. Speaking after opening the Sultan Muda Fair 2026 in Palembang on Monday, Herman Deru noted that this achievement demonstrates high interest among the younger generation in increasing their capacity in entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
“It was reported today that Sultan Muda participants have reached more than 10,000 people, specifically 10,334 individuals have registered,” he said.
He added that the local government, alongside the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and various stakeholders, continues to encourage the improvement of digital financial literacy among young people to prepare them for the development of the technology-based economy. Consequently, the younger generation, equipped with an understanding of digital finance, is expected to be able to create new business opportunities, thereby contributing to regional economic growth and reducing unemployment rates.
“We are listening to presentations regarding the importance of preparing our greatest asset, which is the youth who understand the digital world, particularly concerning financial literacy,” he remarked.
Herman Deru also expressed his appreciation to OJK South Sumatra for facilitating the Sultan Muda Fair, as it is deemed capable of strengthening public confidence in the financial services sector ecosystem. He expressed hope that the Sultan Muda Programme would continue and provide a tangible impact on improving community welfare through better economic growth.
“We hope the Sultan Muda programme will continue to impact the economic growth of South Sumatra, with increasing economic growth and a continuous decrease in unemployment,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of OJK South Sumatra, Arifin Susanto, stated that the Sultan Muda Programme is designed to develop young entrepreneurs gradually, ensuring that participants do not focus solely on instant results. OJK also provides business consultation and mentoring services, including outside of working hours, so that participants can find solutions to various obstacles faced in developing their businesses.
“We have prepared consultation spaces, including after-hours services, so that participants can consult for free if they encounter problems in running their businesses,” he said.
The South Sumatra Sultan Muda Programme is a strategic initiative by the South Sumatra Provincial Government in collaboration with the OJK to produce 100,000 new young entrepreneurs. The programme focuses on digitalisation, financial literacy, and the downstreaming of local products.
