South Sumatra Farmer Attacked by Bear While Gardening, Suffers Waist and Thigh Injuries

A farmer in Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra, named Yatana (55), was attacked by a bear while in his plantation. The victim suffered lacerations to his waist and thigh. Muara Kelingi Police Chief Iptu M Nur Hendra confirmed the incident, stating the bear suddenly appeared and attacked the victim. The attack occurred around 08.00 WIB on Wednesday. The victim sustained injuries from the bear’s claws. Police officers have checked on the victim’s condition and visited the crime scene. Authorities are currently conducting further checks regarding the presence of the wild animal. Meanwhile, Misno Atmoko, Head of Dusun V, Air Beliti Village, said the victim had gone to the plantation to spray the land. The plantation is located quite far from residential areas. The victim encountered the bear and was immediately attacked.
