South Sulawesi Woman Dies After Being Fed Analgesic Tablets by Alleged Lover in Jealousy Case

A woman identified only by the initials MH, aged 40, was found dead in a hotel room in Makassar, South Sulawesi. The victim is believed to have been given analgesic tablets by a man suspected to be her lover. According to detikSulsel, the case began when the victim checked into a hotel on Jalan Sungai Saddang Baru in the Rappocini district on Sunday 17 May. The victim and the man reportedly shared a hotel room.

‘The victim initially checked into the hotel with a man,’ said AKP Wawan Suryadinata, head of the Mobile Investigation Unit (Resmob) of the South Sulawesi Police, in his statement on Friday 22 May.

At the scene, the suspect gave four crushed analgesic tablets and dissolved them in the victim’s mineral water. The suspect briefly left the hotel and then returned to check on the condition of the victim.

‘The suspect gave that drink while the victim awoke from sleep. The next day he returned to the hotel and found the victim unconscious, as seen from outside the window,’ he added.

The victim’s body was found by hotel staff after three days because the victim did not leave the room even though the rental period had ended. At the time of discovery, the victim had died with blood coming from the mouth, suspected to be due to an overdose.

From the examination, both the suspect and the victim were married. The suspect is suspected of jealousy after learning the victim was having a relationship with another man.

‘The motive is jealousy after learning the victim had a romantic relationship with another man,’ said Wawan.
