The Provincial Government of South Sulawesi is offering various leading potentials of the region to delegates from 28 countries attending the Indonesia Gastrodiplomacy Series (IGS) 2026 Business Forum. South Sulawesi Vice Governor Fatmawati Rusdi stated in Makassar on Thursday that the province holds a strategic position as one of the economic growth centres in eastern Indonesia. Various leading sectors, ranging from agriculture, fisheries, and industry to tourism and the creative economy, are considered to have significant prospects for development through global partnerships. She explained that the support of an international port, industrial estates, agricultural and fishery production centres, and connectivity linking various regions in Eastern Indonesia positions South Sulawesi as one of the main hubs of national economic activity in the eastern region. These conditions serve as important capital for attracting investment while expanding market access for the region’s flagship products. ‘Through the Indonesia Gastrodiplomacy Series, we hope more collaborations will emerge that can bring investment, expand the market for regional flagship products, and create jobs and prosperity for the people of South Sulawesi,’ said Fatmawati.
