South Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office Raids Education Department Over IDR 13 Billion Digital Library Corruption
A team of special crime investigators from the South Sulawesi High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Sulsel) conducted a raid at the South Sulawesi Provincial Education Department office on Wednesday (17/6/2026). The operation is linked to an investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of a digital library (Bookless Library) for the 2022 and 2023 fiscal years.
Assistant for Special Crimes at Kejati Sulsel, Rachmat Supriady, confirmed that the search was focused on the High School Division room. “This search and seizure is part of the investigators’ efforts to collect the necessary evidence for the investigation process,” Rachmat said after the operation on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, Makassar.
Items seized included activity procurement planning documents, digital library procurement contract documents, Fund Disbursement Orders (SP2D), expenditure accountability letters (SPJ), and other supporting documents related to the flow of funds.
The digital library project is known to have consumed a substantial amount from the South Sulawesi Regional Budget (APBD). In 2022, the budget allocation reached more than IDR 3.4 billion. This budget increased significantly in 2023 with an allocation of over IDR 9 billion, bringing the total budget to more than IDR 13 billion.
Prior to the raid, Kejati Sulsel had also summoned and examined several principals of state senior high schools (SMAN) who were the beneficiaries of the project. The Head of the Information and Legal Section at Kejati Sulsel, Soetarmi, confirmed the intensive examination of the school principals.
Investigators are currently continuing to probe the roles of the various parties involved and trace the flow of funds to clearly uncover the resulting state losses. Kejati Sulsel affirmed its commitment to resolving this case transparently and accountably for the sake of upholding the law in the South Sulawesi region.
