South Sulawesi Police Dismisses Bripda P for Fatally Assaulting Junior Officer Bripda DP
An ethics commission of the South Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda Sulsel) has imposed a dismissal without honour (PTDH) sanction against Bripda P, the suspected perpetrator in the fatal assault of his junior officer, Bripda DP (19).
Kombes Pol Zulham Effendy, Head of the Professional Conduct and Security Division (Propam) at Polda Sulsel and presiding officer of the ethics hearing, stated that Bripda P has been proven to have legitimately and convincingly violated the Indonesian Police (Polri) professional code of ethics through his actions that resulted in the victim’s death.
“The commission is imposing two sanctions: first, an ethics sanction declaring the offending conduct as reprehensible behaviour; second, an administrative sanction of dismissal without honour from the Indonesian Police,” Zulham stated when reading the verdict on Monday, 2 March.
Bripda P’s actions, which resulted in the death of his junior colleague, have been deemed undisciplined conduct that has damaged professional standards and tarnished the image of the Indonesian Police.
In this case, Bripda P was charged under Article 13 of Government Regulation No. 1 of 2003 concerning dismissal without honour, and Articles 5, 8 and 13 of Police Regulation No. 7 of 2022 concerning the professional code of ethics of Polri.
“This PTDH sanction is an appropriate penalty, as the officer caused the death of a colleague,” Zulham concluded.
