Makassar (ANTARA) - South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman has reminded Eid travellers to always maintain their health, adhere to safety regulations, and uphold orderliness during their journeys for mutual comfort.

“Our hope is that all mudik participants arrive safely at their hometowns and can gather with their families in the joyful atmosphere of Eid al-Fitr,” said Andi Sudirman in his statement in Makassar on Wednesday.

Governor Andi Sudirman also conveyed his appreciation to all parties, particularly the ranks of the South Sulawesi Police (Polda Sulsel), who are escorting the mudik fleet convoys in a chain until they reach their destinations to ensure the journeys proceed safely and smoothly.

“Thank you to all parties who have contributed to this activity. Especially to the ranks of Polda Sulsel who will escort the free mudik fleet convoys until they reach the destination areas,” he stated.

Furthermore, the South Sulawesi Provincial Government is once again organising the free mudik programme this year as a form of the government’s concern for the community to return to their hometowns safely.

He revealed that approximately 1,000 community members have registered for the free mudik programme, using 35 prepared bus fleets, along with special trucks to transport the two-wheeled vehicles of the mudik participants.

The destinations of the mudik routes include Makassar-Parepare, Makassar-Sidrap, Makassar-Wajo, Makassar-Palopo, Makassar-Enrekang-Toraja, Makassar-Masamba-Malili, Makassar-Pinrang-Mamuju, Makassar-Bantaeng, Makassar-Bulukumba, Makassar-Selayar, Makassar-Sinjai, and Makassar-Bone.
