South Sulawesi Governor Proposes Electricity Access for Remote Villages and Islands
South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman met with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia. During the meeting, Andi Sudirman proposed the Village Electricity Programme (Lisdes) for remote villages and island regions, including the Selayar Islands Regency and Pangkep Regency.
Bahlil personally welcomed Andi Sudirman’s arrival at the Ministry of ESDM office on Wednesday (22/6/2026). Andi Sudirman was accompanied by the Regent of the Selayar Islands, Muh Natsir Ali, and the Regent of Pangkep, Muh Yusran Lalogau.
“We are submitting a request for the Village Electricity Programme (Lisdes) for remote villages and island areas in South Sulawesi, including Selayar and Pangkep,” said Andi Sudirman in his statement.
Andi Sudirman said the Lisdes programme is one of President Prabowo Subianto’s priorities implemented through the Ministry of ESDM. The South Sulawesi provincial government welcomed the programme by preparing data on the needs of residents, covering tens of thousands of households in the province.
“This programme is a priority of President Prabowo through the Ministry of ESDM, which we are supporting with data covering tens of thousands of households in South Sulawesi,” he added.
The Village Electricity Programme includes the installation of SuperSUN units, expansion of electricity networks, communal solar power plants (PLTS), and several other initiatives. Andi Sudirman expressed hope that the proposal would be realised promptly so that communities in remote villages and island regions could benefit.
“We hope this proposal can be realised soon so that our brothers and sisters in remote villages and island areas can enjoy stable electricity access 24x7,” he said.
In his meeting with Bahlil, Andi Sudirman also proposed the construction of storage tanks for fuel in the Selayar Islands. This is because fuel supply in the island region often faces obstacles, particularly extreme weather conditions that can hinder the distribution and supply process.
“Together with the Regent of Selayar, we are also proposing fuel storage tanks for the Selayar Islands, given the limited supply during extreme seasons caused by disrupted supply chains,” Andi Sudirman concluded.
