Makassar (ANTARA) - The Governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, stated that the South Sulawesi Provincial Disaster Preparedness Youth (Tagana) team has been deployed to support the Makassar City Tagana in reaching affected residents in several flood locations, especially in the Biringkanaya and Tamalanrea sub-districts.

“The Provincial Social Affairs Office, through coordination with the Makassar City Social Affairs Office, is directly involved in assisting with flood management. The Provincial Tagana team is supporting the Makassar City Tagana to reach affected victims,” said Andi Sudirman in a statement in Makassar, Thursday.

In addition to assisting with the evacuation and service of affected residents, the South Sulawesi Provincial Tagana team has also set up evacuation tents to meet the immediate needs of the community.

One of the tents was set up in the Blok 10 Antang area as a temporary shelter for affected residents.

Based on the report of the South Sulawesi Social Affairs Office and Tagana team’s activities in handling the flood in Makassar City on February 24, 2026, several steps have been taken in the field, including the installation of multi-purpose tents, the distribution of logistics to public kitchens and evacuation posts, and coordination of refugee management with the Makassar City Social Affairs Office.

“Please pray that we will continue to help affected communities through synergy with local governments and all related elements so that disaster management can run well,” he explained.
