Makassar (ANTARA) - The South Sulawesi branch of the Indonesian Civil Servants Corps (Korpri) is finalising preparations for the 8th National Korpri Quran Recitation Competition (MTQ), scheduled to take place in the region in August 2026.

“We must pay attention to the quality of service as hosts during this event. How can we create a good impression?” said the Chairman of South Sulawesi Korpri, Jufri Rahman, in a statement in Makassar on Sunday.

He explained that South Sulawesi has been entrusted with hosting this national event, which is held every two years. This appointment is seen as a good opportunity to strengthen South Sulawesi’s position as one of the centres for holding national events in eastern Indonesia.

The 8th National Korpri MTQ 2026 is planned to be attended by contingents from 38 provinces, as well as representatives from ministries and agencies from across Indonesia. Thousands of participants, officials, and accompanying personnel are expected to attend during the series of events.

In addition to being a forum for promoting the recitation of the Quran among civil servants (ASN), this activity also serves as a national forum to strengthen brotherhood, increase cross-agency collaboration, and reinforce religious values in governance.

The event will be held in two locations, namely Makassar City as the location for the opening ceremony and Pangkajene Islands Regency (Pangkep) as the location for the closing ceremony, with the theme “Civil Servants with Noble Character, Resilient Indonesia”.

According to Jufri, the trust placed in South Sulawesi as the host is inseparable from the support of the Head of the State Civil Service Agency (BKN) and also the Chairman of the National Korpri, Zudan Arif Fakrulloh.

“In addition, we must immediately prepare the best potential for the South Sulawesi contingent at this National Korpri MTQ,” he said.

The General Chair of National KORPRI, Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, launched and socialised the 8th National Korpri MTQ on February 14.

The 8th National Korpri MTQ 2026 will feature 12 competition branches with 36 categories. The implementation of this activity is also projected to have an impact on the hospitality, transportation sectors, and micro-enterprises in South Sulawesi.
