South Sulawesi exports workers
PAREPARE, South Sulawesi: The province has sent more than 1,100 people to work overseas over the past nine months, a local official said yesterday.
Radjamuddin, chief of the local office of the Overseas Labor Institution, said that the workers, mostly senior high school graduates, were sent to Malaysia, Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong.
"A majority of the workers were supplied to Malaysia and employed in palm oil plantations and construction projects," he said, Antara news agency reported.
He said the workers were recruited, trained and supplied by four labor export companies operating in the province. (rms)
