South Sulawesi DJPb: 1.78 Million Residents in South Sulawesi Benefit from MBG Programme
Makassar (ANTARA) - The Head of the South Sulawesi Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury (DJPb), Hari Utomo, stated that by February 2026, 1,788,132 individuals will be beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.
“The number of MBG programme beneficiaries in South Sulawesi is around 1.78 million people, with 629 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) established in 24 districts and cities in South Sulawesi,” he said in Makassar on Wednesday.
Hari Utomo explained that the presence of hundreds of SPPGs in implementing the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme has a broad impact on society, particularly vulnerable groups.
“The number of recorded beneficiaries reaches 1.78 million people, the majority of whom are students from various education levels,” he said.
Not only impacting aspects of health and nutrition, the implementation of the MBG Programme in South Sulawesi also provides tangible contributions to the regional economy.
Hari Utomo revealed that the supply chain of this programme involves 1,665 suppliers, ranging from food ingredient providers to other supporting partners.
“The involvement of local suppliers also helps drive economic circulation in the area and strengthens micro, small, and medium enterprises,” he explained.
By February 2026, a total of 26,418 workers are recorded as directly involved in the operations of SPPGs across all districts and cities in South Sulawesi.
According to him, this figure reflects that the MBG programme not only focuses on fulfilling public nutrition but also serves as an economic driver and job creator.
Hari emphasised that the South Sulawesi DJPb will continue to support the sustainability and strengthening of the MBG programme through accountable and targeted budget management.
“We hope that the synergy between the central government, local government, and all stakeholders can be maintained so that the benefits of this programme are increasingly felt widely by the people of South Sulawesi,” he said.
