South Sulawesi Civil Servants Not Required to Report to Offices After Eid Holiday, Mandated to WFH or WFA
Makassar, VIVA – Civil servants (ASN) within the scope of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government are required to continue working either from home or via Work From Anywhere (WFA) starting from Wednesday, 25 March to Friday, 27 March 2026, following this year’s Eid holiday and leave period.
“Tomorrow it starts with WFA. Just like before Eid for all sectors (agencies), except for essential services such as health and Samsat,” said the Head of the South Sulawesi Regional Personnel Agency (BKD), Erwin Sodding, when contacted by reporters in Makassar on Tuesday.
This is in accordance with the regulations in the Circular Letter of the Minister of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) Number: 2/2026 regarding the Adjustment of Official Duties for ASN Employees in Government Agencies during the National Holiday and Collective Leave Period for the Holy Day of Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
The 2026 Eid WFA policy covers five days: 16-17 March 2026 before Eid and 25-27 March 2026 after Eid for ASN as well as some private sector employees.
Erwin emphasised that the implementation of WFA does not mean adding holiday time for ASN; instead, routine tasks must be carried out according to their main duties and functions to serve the public, even without reporting to the office.
In addition, ASN must adhere to the code of ethics for behaviour, including the effective and efficient use of working hours in accordance with their respective official duties.
“Responsive and reachable during working hours. But if there is urgent work that must be done at the office, the individual is obliged to come in to carry out the task first, while still coordinating with their direct superior,” said Erwin.
Previously, the Secretary of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government, Jufri Rahman, emphasised that ASN must not add extra holiday days beyond the official schedule of collective leave or national holidays set by the government.
However, if these policies are deliberately violated, he said, they will certainly face consequences or sanctions for the violations.
“Whatever policy is implemented, there are sanctions. There is reward (appreciation) and punishment (penalty),” stated Jufri Rahman.
He added that the provincial government has fulfilled its obligations to ASN, namely the payment of the Eid Allowance (THR), so ASN must work according to their respective official duties after the Eid holiday. (Ant)
