South Papua Governor Listens to Aspirations of Asmat Regency Community

South Papua Governor Apolo Safanpo listened to the aspirations of the people of Yaisiu Village, Asmat Regency, to understand the needs of the community in the local area. “We want to know directly what the needs of the people of Yaisiu Village are and the things that need to be addressed in the future,” he said in a press release received by Antara in Jayapura, Thursday. According to Safanpo, the South Papua Provincial Government will continue to push for equitable development to the outer areas. “Progress in the region is not only measured by physical development but also by the welfare of the people and the quality of human resources,” he said. He explained that in the face-to-face meeting, the people hoped electricity could be on 24 hours a day because currently the village’s electricity only runs for 12 hours. “Then the people also complain about slow internet connectivity, so this will be a matter for us to coordinate with the relevant authorities,” he added. He added that the people of Asmat Regency also hope that the facilities and infrastructure at the community health centre (Puskesmas) including the delivery room are provided. “This is what they need, so we will strive to improve healthcare facilities in the area,” he said.
