The Faculty of Economics and Business at Mercu Buana University (FEB UMB) is encouraging the transformation of micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) actors towards environmentally friendly business practices. This effort is being carried out through capacity strengthening for business actors based on green knowledge in South Meruya Sub-district, West Jakarta.

The community service programme was held by a team of lecturers from the Management Study Programme at FEB Mercu Buana University in collaboration with the South Meruya Sub-district PKK Empowerment Team at the South Meruya Sub-district Office Building, Kembangan Sub-district, on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

South Meruya Sub-district Head Muhamad Maizar stated that the synergy between higher education institutions and the community is an important factor in strengthening the sustainable competitiveness of MSMEs. β€œAn environmentally friendly approach can increase the added value and competitiveness of MSME products,” said Muhamad Maizar in a press release received on Sunday (10/5/2026).

The UMB lecturer team is promoting a green knowledge approach based on digital mutualism, which emphasises waste management, efficient use of resources, and the utilisation of environmentally friendly materials in the production process. The material was delivered in an applied manner to make it easy for participants to implement, especially PKK cadres who manage home-based businesses.

Participants also received training on the use of environmentally friendly packaging as well as innovations in processing waste into economically valuable products. This approach is considered relevant to changing market trends that increasingly demand sustainable and environmentally responsible business practices.

This activity is a Community Service programme funded by the UMB Institute for Research and Community Service in 2026. The programme features several UMB lecturers, namely Diky Firdaus, Joko Sugiharjo, Tafiprios, Hamdan, Indra Raharja, Paijan, Abdul Rahmat, and Andriansyah Bachtila.

Through this collaboration, the Management Study Programme at FEB UMB together with the South Meruya PKK is encouraging the transformation of local MSMEs to be more adaptive, innovative, and capable of competing amid the development of the green economy.
