South Lampung strengthens energy resilience through PGN and BUMD collaboration
South Lampung (ANTARA) - The South Lampung Regency Government continues to strengthen steps towards regional energy independence through a strategic collaboration with PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) and the Regional Owned Enterprise (BUMD).
Regent of South Lampung, Radityo Egi Pratama, in Kalianda on Tuesday, emphasised the importance of the collaboration between PGN and BUMD Perseroda Lampung Selatan Maju as a concrete step to bolster regional energy resilience while opening new economic opportunities.
“Today, we are promoting a strategic collaboration with PGN to accelerate energy development in South Lampung. This is an initial step to open a new gas market in the heart of the Sumatra corridor through the construction of a CNG Mother Station,” stated the Regent.
He explained that Lampung holds a strategic position in the national energy distribution network. PGN already possesses several key infrastructures in the area, such as the Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) Lampung facility and distribution pipelines traversing the main Sumatra corridor.
This potential, continued Egi, needs to be optimised to provide added value for the region and support sustainable energy availability.
Through this partnership, he said, the cooperation scheme is designed to be mutually beneficial. PGN will serve as the primary gas supplier, while the construction and management of supporting infrastructure can involve Perseroda Lampung Selatan Maju as the regional BUMD.
“This is not just about energy, but also a tangible step towards regional independence while opening space for new economic growth for the community,” he remarked.
The development of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Mother Station is projected to meet energy needs across various sectors, from industry and agribusiness to commercial, transportation, and SMEs that require more efficient and environmentally friendly energy.
Through this collaboration, the South Lampung Regency Government hopes that the utilisation of natural gas can be further optimised and serve as a driver for sustainable regional economic growth.
