The South Lampung Regency Government, through its Trade and Industry Office, has launched a simultaneous cheap market penetration movement as a concrete measure to control regional inflation whilst maintaining price stability and the availability of staple goods for the community. Head of Trade at the South Lampung Trade and Industry Office, Mirliansyah, stated in Kalianda on Wednesday that the market penetration movement is focused on helping residents obtain basic necessities at more affordable prices, particularly amidst the scarcity and price hikes of Minyakita branded cooking oil, which have been occurring since May 2026. “This market penetration movement aims to curb the regional inflation rate, specifically addressing the scarcity and rising prices of Minyakita since May 2026. Through this activity, we hope the public can obtain basic necessities at more affordable prices,” Mirliansyah said. He explained that the activity is also the result of collaboration between the Lampung Provincial Industry and Trade Office, the Lampung Regional Logistics Agency (Perum Bulog), and trade departments across all regencies and cities in Lampung Province. “In South Lampung itself, the market penetration activities are being carried out in three locations: Kalianda Market, Sidomulyo Market, and Katibung Market. The implementation at Kalianda Market took place on 9-10 June 2026, and will continue at Sidomulyo Market next week before concluding at Katibung Market at the end of June 2026,” he said. According to him, the regional government has prepared anticipatory measures should additional supply from Bulog become available. If stock is available, similar activities will be expanded to Bakauheni Market to address reports of Minyakita stock shortages that had occurred in that area. “Residents can purchase several strategic commodities at more affordable prices, namely 5-kilogramme packaged SPHP rice for Rp60,000, granulated sugar at Rp17,500 per kilogramme, and 2-litre packaged Minyakita for Rp31,000. Specifically for Minyakita purchases, residents are required to show their identity card (KTP) because the available stock is still limited,” he stated. He explained that the high public response is an indicator that the programme provides tangible benefits to residents, particularly in meeting daily basic needs. “Our hope is that this market penetration movement can help the community obtain staple goods at stable prices and prevent price spikes, especially for cooking oil, rice, and sugar commodities,” he said. To ensure information about the activity reaches the public widely, the South Lampung Regency Trade and Industry Office is collaborating with sub-district heads, village chiefs, and market managers to socialise and disseminate information to the community. Through this market penetration movement, the South Lampung Regency Government hopes that the price stability of basic necessities is maintained, public purchasing power is protected, and regional inflation control efforts can run more effectively.
