South Lampung Netizens' 'Flexing Invitation' Phenomenon: Not Bragging About Eid Clothes, But Flaunting Physical Halal Bihalal Invitations from the Regent
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The wave of enthusiasm among South Lampung residents welcoming Eid al-Fitr 1447 H is evident in the courtyard of the South Lampung Regent’s Office. Since morning, residents from various districts have been arriving one after another to collect physical invitations for the Regent of South Lampung, Radityo Egi Pratama’s Open House and Halal Bihalal event, scheduled for Saturday, 21 March 2026 (H+1 Eid). This phenomenon has gone viral on social media after residents collectively posted photos of themselves holding the invitations as a sign of pride. Narratives of “flexing” the physical invitations have filled Instagram and TikTok timelines, creating the impression of a “Golden Ticket” for the community to engage in direct silaturahmi at the Regent’s Official Residence (Lamban Rakyat). Regent Radityo Egi Pratama emphasised that the high interest from residents is being met with thorough yet modest preparations. In line with President Prabowo Subianto’s instructions for public officials to avoid extravagant events, Regent Egi has chosen a concept focused on empowering the people’s economy. Instead of lavish servings, the district government has procured dozens of stalls from local UMKM and street vendors (PKL) to provide free dishes for the thousands of guests expected to attend. This strategy aims to ensure that state budget allocations directly benefit small entrepreneurs in South Lampung. An estimated thousands of residents are predicted to crowd Lamban Rakyat. The handshaking tradition will be conducted without rigid protocol barriers to maintain a familial atmosphere. “This physical invitation is a bridge for silaturahmi. We want to ensure that every resident, especially those who cannot celebrate Eid with their families, feels invited and valued as part of the greater South Lampung family,” said a representative from the South Lampung District Government Communication Team.
