South Lampung Government Distributes Clean Water to Drought-Affected Areas

The South Lampung Regency Government is distributing clean water aid to residents affected by drought as an effort to ensure the community’s basic needs remain fulfilled. The aid distribution is carried out through the South Lampung Fire and Rescue Service (Damkarmat) by deploying water tanker fleets to villages experiencing difficulties in obtaining clean water supplies. Head of the Fire Department at the South Lampung Damkarmat, Rully Fikriansyah, stated in Kalianda on Saturday that the distribution of clean water is an emergency response measure to meet the basic needs of the community impacted by the reduced water supply. “Today we are distributing clean water aid in two locations, namely Merak Belantung Village and Gunung Village, Kalianda District, with a total of 8,000 litres of clean water,” he said. According to him, the distribution of water is based on reports from village governments and field monitoring of areas experiencing a water crisis. He explained that the distribution of clean water will be carried out in stages, adjusting to the needs of the community and the availability of the water tanker fleet so that all affected areas can be served. In addition to distributing clean water aid, his party is also continuously coordinating with sub-district and village governments, as well as related agencies, to monitor the development of the drought situation and anticipate the widening of its impacts. He therefore urged residents to use water wisely and conserve it during the dry season. Residents are also requested to immediately report to village officials or the Fire and Rescue Service if they experience difficulties in obtaining clean water so that aid can be distributed promptly.
