South Lampung Government Distributes Clean Water to Drought-Affected Areas

South Lampung (ANTARA) - The South Lampung Regency Government is distributing clean water assistance to residents affected by the dry-season drought in a number of areas, as part of efforts to ensure that the community’s basic needs remain met.

The assistance is being distributed through the South Lampung Fire and Rescue Service (Damkarmat), which has deployed water tanker trucks to villages struggling to obtain clean water supplies.

Rully Fikriansyah, Head of the Fire Division at South Lampung Damkarmat, speaking in Kalianda on Saturday, said the clean water distribution was being carried out as an emergency response measure to meet the basic needs of communities affected by dwindling water supplies.

“Today we distributed clean water at two locations, namely Merak Belantung Village and Gunung Village in Kalianda District, with a total of 8,000 litres of clean water,” he said.

According to him, the distribution is based on reports from village governments and the results of field monitoring of areas experiencing a water crisis.

He explained that the clean water distribution would be carried out in stages, adjusted to the community’s needs and the availability of tanker trucks, so that all affected areas can be served.

In addition to distributing clean water, his office is continuing to coordinate with sub-district and village governments as well as relevant agencies to monitor drought conditions and anticipate the spread of its impact.

He therefore urged the public to use water wisely and conserve supplies while the dry season lasts. Residents were also asked to promptly report to village officials or Damkarmat if they have difficulty obtaining clean water so that assistance can be delivered immediately.
