South Korean President to Prabowo: Indonesia is the Top Investment Destination for Korean Companies

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung stated that Indonesia has long been the top investment destination for companies from his country. Lee noted that Korean companies have successfully helped Indonesia produce its first domestically manufactured electric vehicle. “Indonesia is the first investment destination for Korean companies and a valuable partner that has helped realise the Korean defence industry. Furthermore, Indonesia’s first electric vehicle was produced in collaboration with Korean companies,” Lee remarked while receiving a visit from President Prabowo Subianto at the Cheong Wa Dae Presidential Palace on Wednesday (1/4/2026). Based on the successful cooperation achieved so far, Lee stated that he and Prabowo would strive to create more projects in the future that would be more beneficial to the people. “For more than 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, we have been trusted friends and valuable partners in our journey, mutually guiding and supporting based on each other’s strengths, wisdom, and trust,” Lee said. On the other hand, during the same occasion, Prabowo said that Indonesia and South Korea need to maintain good relations so that the economic welfare of both countries can be realised. He alluded to the extraordinary progress achieved by South Korea in science and technology. “You have achieved extraordinary progress in your development. Your industry, science, and technology are very advanced,” Prabowo stated. Prabowo said that Indonesia has abundant natural resources and a large market, and their management could be collaborated with South Korea. “We have many resources. We have a large market. We can complement each other,” Prabowo said.
