South Korean National Suspected Murdered in Bekasi, Police Coordinate with Embassy

BEKASI, KOMPAS.com — Police are coordinating with the South Korean Embassy regarding the suspected murder of South Korean national SBC (66) at his residence in Kampung Buaran RT 04 RW 02, Lambangsari Village, Tambun Selatan District, Bekasi Regency, on Wednesday (27 May 2026).

Tambun Selatan Police Chief Kompol Wuriyanti said that coordination is for the autopsy process and further handling of the victim.

‘The deceased is currently undergoing an autopsy. Yesterday, investigators also coordinated and sought approval for the autopsy from the Embassy and the family,’ Wuriyanti said when contacted by Kompas.com via phone on Thursday (28 May 2026).

‘Yes (suspected murder). Wounds were found on the victim’s body. However, it still needs to be investigated whether these injuries caused the death or not,’ Wuriyanti said.

According to her, the investigation is ongoing in full with the Forensic Laboratory Centre (Puslabfor) and Polri Kramat Jati Hospital.

‘Investigations and autopsy are still ongoing,’ she said.

At the crime scene, police also found several items currently being investigated for their connection to the case.

‘The items found at the scene include a barbell. Others are still under investigation,’ Wuriyanti said.

‘So far, six witnesses have been questioned. Motive and other details will be released once the investigation is complete,’ she said.

Previously reported, SBC, a South Korean national, was found dead in his dining room with multiple injuries.

SBC was first discovered by his daughter on Wednesday afternoon.

The body is currently at Polri Kramat Jati Hospital in East Jakarta.

The victim’s house remains cordoned off by police for investigation purposes.
