BEKASI, KOMPAS.com — A South Korean national identified as SBC, 66, was found dead at his residence in Kampung Buaran RT 04 RW 02, Lambangsari Village, Tambun Selatan Subdistrict, Bekasi Regency, on Wednesday (27 May 2026). The victim is suspected to have been murdered after being discovered with multiple injuries in the dining room of his house. Tambun Selatan Police Station Chief Kompol Wuriyanti stated that police are still investigating the exact cause of death through inquiry and autopsy. “Yes, it is suspected to be a murder. The victim had injuries, but it must still be determined whether those injuries caused the death,” she said in a phone interview with Kompas.com on Thursday (28 May 2026). The discovery was reported to the village head before being escalated to the police. “The deceased is currently undergoing autopsy. Yesterday, investigators coordinated and sought approval for the autopsy from the Embassy and family,” she said. However, police have not yet confirmed whether the injuries were caused by sharp or blunt objects. “Investigations are ongoing in collaboration with the Forensic Laboratory and the Police Hospital,” Wuriyanti said. “Items found at the crime scene include a barbell. Other evidence is still under investigation,” she said. As of now, police have interviewed six witnesses in connection with the case. Investigators are also exploring various possibilities to uncover the motive and perpetrator. Wuriyanti stated that the victim’s body is currently at Kramat Jati Police Hospital in East Jakarta for autopsy. “Regarding the motive and other details, we will provide updates once the investigation is complete,” Wuriyanti said.
