South Korean manager nabbed

JAKARTA (JP): Immigration officers have arrested a South Korean man who worked as a restaurant manager in Bitung district, Tangerang, for violating his immigration permit.

Tangerang immigration office head Dody Maywardi Wibowo said Pan Gon Lee, who was apprehended on Wednesday, stated his profession in his permit as a technical advisor of private company PT Mire Korsindo in Cikupa, also in Tangerang.

"We found that Lee did not work at PT Mire Korsindo any longer," Dody said in a statement on Friday.

He added that Pan had no stay permit from the immigration office or permit to work at the restaurant from the local tourism office as required.

Acting on a tip-off, Dody then assigned some of his staff to nab Lee.

Posing as customers at the Poncik restaurant, the immigration officers easily arrested the suspect, who was serving his guests, mostly of whom were from Lee's homeland.

"Pan is now being detained at the immigration center in Kalideres, West Jakarta," Dodi said. (jun)
