BEKASI — A South Korean national identified as SBC (66) was found dead at his residence in Kampung Buaran RT 04 RW 02, Desa Lambangsari, Tambun Selatan District, Bekasi Regency, and was a landlord. “Yes, he owns a rental property,” said Tambun Selatan Police Chief Kompol Wuriyanti when asked via message on Thursday, 28 May 2026. One of the tenants, Iyan (21), said the victim lived alone at the property. “He is originally from Korea and has lived here for a long time, but lives alone as his children rarely visit,” he said. Iyan added he only discovered SBC’s death after hearing commotion outside the rental property. “I had just woken up. When I looked up, there was already a crowd. Then I heard the landlord had died,” he said. Despite limited interaction, Iyan described the victim as friendly among tenants. “He was kind and friendly,” he said. Investigators are awaiting autopsy and forensic results to confirm the cause of death. “The victim’s body had wounds, suspected to be from blunt and sharp objects. However, it is still being investigated whether these injuries caused the death,” Wuriyanti said. “We are still focusing on evidence collection and further developments. The investigation is ongoing, and the autopsy is still being conducted,” she added. Additionally, police have coordinated with the South Korean Embassy in Jakarta and the victim’s family regarding the autopsy process.
